IN RESIDENCY: DIANA AKBULUT (DAYA JONES)
Flux Laboratory welcomes Diana Akbulut (Daya Jones) in residency who will work on her new creation: Amour Grenade.
Amour Grenade is the taste of fruit. It is also the reconciliation of opposites. There are Daya and Diana. Daya Jones, the surgical gesture in hip-hop battles, a young woman to whom her competitors do not ask her gender. Diana Akbulut, Swiss of Kurdish origin, who remembers the land of her father, of her mother, in a feast of senses and reclaimed gestures. Between Daya and Diana, there is the attempt not to separate the avatars anymore. It would be wrong to consider only this first creation from the perspective of origins, feminism or politics. For this choreographer and dancer, it is about giving body to the identities that cross her. The pomegranate is neither quite a fruit nor just a weapon.
A solo co-produced by ADC (Association for Contemporary Dance), Arsenic (Center for Contemporary Scenic Art) and scheduled at ADC from November 19 to 21 and Arsenic from November 26 to 29, 2020.
